The rise of .es

For the first time in the young history of .es the number of registered domain names has surpassed the 900.000 mark in March, counting from December 2006.
After growing by 78,8% in less than on year and a half, the number of .es has reached 907.821 domains.
In the young year 2008, 102.494 domains have been registered, which represents a growth of 12,7% compared to December of 2007.
Interesting to note that in March alone, 21.942 new .es domain names were registered.´
The popularity of the .es is still growing and it is expected that the one million mark will be reached around the middle of this year.
